Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, attended the exchange program held by Newtown School Kolkata for the visiting students and teachers from the High School Affiliated to Yunnan Minzu University on 7 February 2018.

After watching the videos and performance, he thanked the teachers, students, executives of Newtown School Kolkata as well as the parents for their wonderful work to receive the visiting Chinese group, and congratulated the two schools on the success of their exchanges. He went on to say that the exchanges are useful for enhancing the learning, and enriching the experiences, of the students and teachers, and help the schools better educate the students on international relations. More importantly, such exchanges contribute to understanding and friendship between China and India, two great nations in the world.

The Consul General hoped that the teachers and students would share what they learnt with their friends, and that the two schools would continue the exchanges and strengthen their twinning relationship in the months and years to come.

The participating teachers and students told Mr. Ma about the successful 10-day program for the visiting Chinese group, saying it included interactions between the Chinese and Indian students, learning Indian culture, home stay with the Indian families, tour of Kolkata and visit to Odissa. They all emphasized that it was a very useful and memorable experience for them.
