Consul General Ma Zhanwu Visits Techno India Group Public School

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, visited the Techno India Group (TIG) Public School located in Chinsurah, West Bengal, India, with participants in the Chinese Higher Education Expo 2018 on 12 May 2018.

The TIG held a grand welcome ceremony named Techno-China Friendship Day for Mr. Ma and other Chinese visitors. Mr. Satyam Roychowdhury, Managing Director of Techno India Group (TIG); Dr. Milan Bhattacharjee, Director General, Dr. Summauli Pyne, Head of International Relations & Outreach Office; Mr. Kaushik Sarkar, General Manager for Marketing Strategy & Knowledge Management; teachers and students of the school, and reporters with local media, making up a gathering of over 600, were present.

Mr. Ma said in his speech that he was very pleased to visit the Techno India Group Public School, and he thanked the TIG management and the teachers and students for their warm welcome, as well as their strong support for the Chinese Higher Education Expo 2018. He pointed out that the success of the Expo is of great significance to both the promotion of educational exchanges between China and Eastern India, and the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields by the two sides. He promised that the Chinese consulate would continue to work together with institutions and individuals in Eastern India like Techno India Group, to further the development of relations between China and Eastern India.

He also invited Mr. Roychowdhury to lead A TIG group to visit China and discuss exchange programs with its counterparts in China.

Mr. Roychowdhury and others from TIG expressed their welcome to Mr. Ma and the Chinese delegation, congratulated them on the successful conclusion of the Expo, and briefed them on TIG and the School. They said that the friendship between India and China dated back to ancient times, and both nations have a high-quality education system. They see the visit of Mr. Ma and the delegation as the beginning of TIG's exchanges with China, and believed that together TIG and its Chinese partners can produce more outstanding young talents and create a bright future for relations between Eastern India and China.

Mr. Ma lit up the auspicious lamp along with Mr. Roychowdhury and others to inaugurate the event. Teachers and students of the School put on wonderful singing and dancing performances.

After the ceremony, Mr. Ma had a tour of the campus accompanied by the Indian side, and answered questions from the local media. The Chinese delegation also interacted with the Indian teachers and students.

Techno India Group is a well-known business group in West Bengal. Founded in 1985 by the Roychowdhury brothers, it started as a computer training centre, and now owns four universities, twenty colleges, and ten schools. It also has its own newspaper, hospital and hotel, and has established several schools abroad, too.
